When It Rains...

So a little update (to remind myself of this adventure).

Last Thursday I took A over to streets beach and out to lunch. The beach was lots of fun, I even got in the water to my husbands surprise (he wasn't there, someone has to work). Started feeling funny in the afternoon. Had food poisioning all night. A had a touch of it on Friday morning. So not fun, I thought I was going to have to go to the hospital. Friday I took it real slow, but finally in the evening I ventured out and wandered around the grocery after Abigail went to bed.

At the grocery I finally found pretzels, although not whole wheat. Found pita bread for our pizzas again. It was nice being able to wander around and read ingredients and try and find healthy things. I found some acceptable granola bars, but I really need to get better at making them myself again. It's hard when you only have one baking dish for everything and I hate washing dishes.

Saturday I thought I was feeling good enough to go to the beach. I was, just still very weak. We went to the beach early around 9am and there were other families there and birthday parties. Not busy, but we weren't alone. Then the darker clouds rolled in and thunder began. We cleaned up, but decided to walk down the end of the pier. It drizzled a little bit and one short rain shower during clean up. Then the sky got really dark. We headed back for the train and made it 3/4 of the way there and wow a torental down pour. We found shelter for a bit, but Nick wanted to catch the next train and not wait a half hour. So off we went into the flood. We made it to the train and back downtown. When we get to the station we hear that the trains are delayed b/c of the storm and see a fair amount of debrie as we walk back to the apartment. It storms with lots of thunder again that night and some how A sleeps through it all!

Sunday comes again and we decided we want to go to the evening service and see if we like it more than the morning. We do, more songs we know. One challenge, no class for Abigail. So in the morning we go to the other side of the river and walk around the market. We are smart enough to bring the umbrellas this time and end up needing them. Nick takes A to Roma Street parklands after nap, only to find the storm has dropped a tree in the middle of the playground, so it is closed. So he has to go the opposite direction to go to the playground by the beach. They get home we eat dinner and notice another big bad storm coming as we are starting to get ready for church. We question if we will be able to make it or not, but thankfully the storm is short lived and we just have to hike through some puddles. It was quiet a storm though with hail and lighting. Also does more damage. I'm not sure but I get the feel from the locals these storms were unusual.

So a crazy weekend, but some fun memories.
